If any of my clients are wondering how to dress for their engagement session, I suggest taking a note from Renee & Anthony. From the beginning, Renee said she wanted a casual session, with flannel shirts and Hunter boots, and they nailed it. They aren’t matchy, matchy but the colors compliment each other very nicely, without being exactly the same. Renee’s Hunter boots and Anthony’s shoes are a great mix of casual and chic. They also brought along a simple patterned scarf/blanket which added a great amount of personality and variety in their photos. I highly suggest bringing props or accessories to help make your session stand out! Editorial blogs and websites love to see couples show their personalities and step out of the box a little bit and that can easily be achieved by blanket, signage, seasonal decorations and clothing. And don’t be afraid to go glam! If you are planning a black tie wedding and want your engagement session to mimic that, then go ahead and dress to impress!
Renee, Anthony and I spent a warm December afternoon together at Tod’s Point in Greenwich, Connecticut which is a peninsula, full of beaches, walking paths, woods and open fields. Anthony had Renee and I laughing the entire time as we trekked around the entire peninsula. We spent the afternoon getting to know each other and told me about their proposal. Anthony got down on one knee, this past 4th of July in Rhode Island, under fireworks and with friends by their sides. How romantic is that?!
Renee + Anthony – thank you so much for choosing me to capture your engagement and I cannot wait for your wedding this October in Mystic, Connecticut!
